Scholarship Opportunities

ϲʹ is a leader in providing STEM and Management students with generous scholarship opportunities.

Scholarships For Kettering Students

ϲʹ Merit Scholarship

  • Merit Scholarship amounts range from $8,500 to $17,500 and are applicable to tuition only.
  • Merit Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance (GPA).
  • Test superscores (SAT/ACT) will also be considered for Merit Scholarships, if officially submitted.
  • Test scores will never negatively influence either a student's University application or Merit Scholarship consideration.
  • Transfer Merit Scholarships are based on GPA from a minimum of 24 credit hours earned at the transfer institution.
  • The scholarship review committee reviews all accepted applicants.

Deadline

Upgrades to Merit Scholarships will be considered based on updated official transcripts (GPA) and test scores received byFebruary 1, 2024. Following February 1, only the GPA and test scores submitted at time of application will be considered. Kettering will adhere to this deadline regardless of changes/cancellations made by ACT or College Board.

Scholarships Offered by ϲʹ

Affinity Scholarship

Amount
Up to $3,000 per year, renewable

ٱ:To receive the scholarship, applicants must be admitted to ϲʹ as an entering freshman or transfer student and meet one or more of the criteria below:

  • Sibling of a currently enrolled ϲʹ student.
  • Have a parent, step-parent in residence, or grandparent who graduated from GMI/ϲʹ.
  • Financial need may be a consideration.

To receive the full $3,000, the student needs to meet both of the above criteria. If the student meets one of the criteria, then $2,000 will be awarded. These scholarships are applicable to tuition only; restrictions may apply.

Awarded on a rolling basis. Applications must be submitted before students begin their first academic term.

Endowed Scholarships

ϲʹ has endowed scholarships for incoming First Year students and current students.

Criteria

Each endowed scholarship will have it's own criteria listed. There are scholarship opportunities based on need and/or GPA.

Esports Scholarship

Amount

Up to $5,000 per year, renewable based on participation

Criteria:ϲʹ is thrilled to build out our roster of competitive gamers. Kettering competes in League of Legends, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League, Super Smash Bro's, and Valorant. The Esports Scholarships are designed for new entering students who are active competitors and who will be engaged with the Kettering Esports team. These scholarships are applicable to tuition only; restrictions may apply.

Requirements for consideration:

  • Apply and be academically admitted to ϲʹ by 11:59 p.m. on April 1.
  • Students must enroll as full-time Kettering students for the immediate upcoming academic year.
  • Students must be competitive in games played by Kettering's Esports teams.
  • Students must be recommended for consideration by a ϲʹ Esports coach as a preferred future member of the Kettering Esports Team.
  • Esports scholarships are renewed on an annual basis based on continuing participation and recommendation of the Esports coach.
  • Financial need may be a consideration.

These scholarships are applicable to tuition only; restrictions may apply.

Requirements for consideration:

  • Apply and be academically admitted to ϲʹ by 11:59 p.m. on April 1.
  • Applicants must be currently and actively involved in competition. Transfer students who are active in Collegiate DECA, or as mentors of DECA, BPA or FBLA are also eligible. Evaluation of transfer students’ applications will be based on the merits of their involvement while in college.
  • Two letters of recommendation - one from a team mentor or advisor, and one from another adult (no family members, please). Names, phone numbers and email addresses of references must be included, for verification purposes.
  • An essay (500-1000 words), and include your team name, if applicable. Be sure to tell how long you’ve been involved in DECA, Collegiate DECA, BPA, or FBLA, what roles you have had on your team, your leadership experience, and any particular achievements or commendations you have earned. Criteria:This scholarship is intended to recognize students’ achievements outside of the classroom – their extraordinary and exemplary talents, their ability to overcome obstacles, and their initiative and tenacity. These scholarships are applicable to tuition only; restrictions may apply.

Requirements for consideration:

  • Apply and be academically admitted to ϲʹ by 11:59 p.m. on April 1.
  • Two letters of recommendation (no family members, please). Names, phone numbers and email addresses of references must be included, for verification purposes.
  • An essay (500-1000 words) about a particular endeavor, award, or accomplishment that distinguishes you outside of the classroom.
  • Demonstrated financial need will also be a consideration. U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to submit a FAFSA.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Transfer students only.High school students currently enrolled in an Early or Middle College are not eligible for the Phi Theta Kappa scholarship.

Students with a GPA of 3.5 or above, 30 credit hours (minimum) and who are members of Phi Theta Kappa (verification required). This scholarship is also available to international transfer students.

Our goal is to support you and your transition into the high performing, inclusive and engaged workforce needed to meet the product development needs of tomorrow. As part of the Product Development cooperative education program (co-op), you will be provided with hands-on experience that will develop you technically and professionally. Over the course of multiple semesters, the co-op program also lets you build a network of friends and contacts, learn about living and playing in Dearborn, ϲʹ, learn valuable skills and see what Ford Motor Company is all about.

You can be a part of the team's future success.

Co-ops are assigned to various areas within the PD organization (i.e. Testing and Validation, CAE, Component and/or Assembly Design). Within these first few assignments, you will be able to demonstrate your technical ability and leadership skills as you begin to define your concentration of interest in the latter years of your educational program. This highly personalized program is driven by the student’s interests and growth opportunities to develop a capable workforce.

Those individuals who successfully demonstrate the skills required to contribute to the PD organization's success will be considered for available openings matching their background and interest upon graduation.

GM STEM Inclusion Scholarship

GM will provide a select number of scholarship for eligible incoming freshman minority students at Kettering who are majoring in STEM related fields. The GM STEM Inclusion Scholarship will cover all remaining tuition and academic support services, after all other federal, state and institutional aid has been applied.

  • Must be an admitted, first-year incoming student.
  • Be of Black or African American, or Hispanic/Latino, or Indigenous (American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander) heritage.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
  • Consideration will be given to first-generation college students.
  • Consideration will be given to students demonstrating financial need – file a by March 1 for financial need to be determined.

  • Essay. EVerybody’s Included in my GM Future (250-500 words). GM announced its plans to make global products and operations carbon neutral by 2040 and eliminate tailpipe emissions from their new light duty vehicles by 2035. Realizing the company’s transformational vision of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion inspires them toward an all-electric future which includes autonomous vehicles. GM wants everybody in as they transition from internal combustion to electric power.

The scholarship is renewable four times and is contingent on maintaining full-time enrollment status at Kettering, and a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Navistar Scholars Program

Navistar is a leading manufacturer of commercial trucks, buses, defense vehicles and engines. Wherever ingenuity drives global markets, you'll find Navistar taking the lead.

Navistar is pleased to partner with ϲʹ to offer the Navistar Scholars Program. This annual scholarship of up to $20,000 per year was created to support the recruitment and retention of women and minority students from the greater Chicagoland area who are pursuing a degree in a STEM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field.

  • Emphasis on minority and female students with financial need who reside within the greater Chicagoland area. This includes students throughout the state of Illinois as well as Wisconsin and Indiana.

    GM will provide a select number of scholarship for eligible incoming freshman minority students at Kettering who are majoring in STEM related fields. The GM STEM Inclusion Scholarship will cover all remaining tuition and academic support services, after all other federal, state and institutional aid has been applied.
